What You Need Before Getting a Countertop Quote
If you've never gone through a countertop project before, the pricing part can feel a little confusing. Why does one quote come back fast while another takes days? The good news is you don't need to be an expert in stone fabrication to get this right. You just need to have a few things sorted out before you reach out for a quote. Here's what actually makes a difference.
Know Where Your Remodel Stands
Timing matters more than people expect. If you're in the middle of a kitchen or bathroom remodel, we need to know what stage things are in before we can give you a firm number or schedule a template.
Cabinets need to be fully installed and level before we template. If they're not in yet, we can still talk pricing and material, but the actual template and install will wait until your space is ready. Letting us know where you are in the process upfront saves everyone a headache later, and it keeps your project moving instead of stalling out.
Send Us a Few Pictures
You'd be surprised how much a couple of photos can tell us. Send pictures of your current countertops, your cabinets, and the general layout of the space. If you already have a design plan or inspiration photos, include those too.
This helps us understand the scope of the job before we even schedule a visit. It also means our first conversation with you is a lot more useful, because we're not starting from zero.
Have Your Specs Ready
This is the part that trips people up the most. Before we can give you an accurate price, we need to know a few key details:
What type of sink are you installing, and does it need an undermount cutout
Are you keeping your existing cooktop or range, or installing a new one
How many faucet holes do you need
Any other appliances that need cutouts, like a soap dispenser or air switch
None of this needs to be finalized down to the exact model number, but having a general idea saves time and avoids surprises once we're on site.
Decide on Your Backsplash
This one gets overlooked a lot, but it makes a real difference in your final price. Are you doing a full height backsplash, a standard four inch splash, or skipping the backsplash altogether and going with paint or tile instead?
Each option uses a different amount of material and changes the labor involved, so it's worth deciding early. If you're not sure yet, that's okay too. Just know that this is one of the first questions we'll ask, and having an answer ready speeds things up.
